I Corinthians 3:9 (NASB) For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
This scripture was given to me this morning and I spent an hour searching the meaning of the word used in the KJV: labourers. It was very interesting to note that Paul used a word derived from two Greek words and did not use it again except in Colossians 4:11. The base word means to work or act, and the other word meant to reason, investigate or converse together. The way Paul uses the word reveals the humble connection with God where we do not act, or understand, on our own; but understand what we know, and what we do, is because of our reliance on God that results in that connection with God using us to do His will. It is the connection Jesus had with the Father in His earthly ministry. Jesus had this connection and ministry to show us what "man in God's image" could and would do on this earth.
There has been a passivity that has gripped the church since the Dark Ages. It looses its hold on those who move in the revealed Word. All through the dark ages, a few sought God so vigorously that they threw off the darkness and moved in the Light. Even when, by revelation, there was restoration of Truth, passivity in moving in that restored Truth began to limit the third generation of those who had responded to that particular revelation of Truth, and they built walls around that area of truth. Then another wave of revelation of Truth came to a remnant within those walls and they moved out to live and minister in connection with God. That has been repeated each time God moved the Church closer to the goal He has for His Church. Those who seek vigorously with a focus of faith in God, will not yield to the passivity that fights connection to God, and will humbly do whatever He says to do. To live in that connection means losing your fear of humiliation, reprisals and rejection. Your "meat is to do the Father's will", and your joy is to dwell in His Presence.
