There is a saying you undoubtedly have heard: some (the optimists) see a glass half-full and others (the pessimists) see it half-empty. We know the feeling of being full having eaten a larger than necessary meal! It is doubtful if we know the empty feeling that many in this world experience daily in their hunger. But there is a fulness that is possible in the spirit that we can know in Jesus Christ. There are some particular portions of Scripture that reveal this.
We know that Jesus came to be The Way, The Truth and The Life to us. I believe God begot Jesus before the creation of anything. He was with the Father before the world began. He is the Word speaking creation into being. Colossians 1:16-17 (NASB) 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. John 1:1-4 (NIV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
In His ascension back to the Father, Jesus cast the cloak of His earthly ministry to His Body on earth. That was not just to the disciples that had been a part of His ministry here but to the generational Body that would believe and live in Him. The work He did on earth as a man, we, too, are to do. The greater work is ours to do as God releases His Will to do them. I believe the Church has a time table that God has ordained. The greater manifestation of God through the Church is to be revealed before Jesus comes back to this earth. I believe that time is opening to us now.
We, His Body on earth, are the fulness of Him! Ephesians 1:22-23 (ESVUK) 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Colossians 2:9-10 (NASB) 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
We have the authority to identify with Him in all aspects of His ministry on earth. We identify with all He is for He is the Son of God and the work of the Spirit on earth is to bring you into the maturity of sons. You were born into the family of God when you identified with His ministry on the cross. You learned to walk and talk as you identified with Him in His obedience. You learn His Nature of love, forgiveness, mercy and peace as you identify by faith in His ministry to you and exercise it to all around you. I John 4:17 (NASB) 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
